The iOS 15.2
The iOS 15.2 beta 3 has been released for developers and it has some major additions to this mammoth operating system that powers all iPhones, iPads and iPod touch.
Interestingly, the operating system used by the first iPhone wasn't called iOS at the time it launched. From versions 1-3, Apple referred to it as the “iPhone OS”. The name iOS was coined with version 4. The humble iOS has come a long way from its inception in 2007. It has changed the way we communicate and also the way we use our phones. The sheer brilliance and ease of use of iPhones is dependent on iOS.
Coming to iOS 15.2 beta 3, the biggest addition is the App Privacy Report which is in continuation with Apple’s privacy approach. The general push towards allowing users to choose who tracks what data is a part of Apple’s larger push towards transparency. The App Privacy Report is similar to how the weekly Screen Time Reports are organised.
The beta release also has added features to the Apple camera application with Macro Control allowing you to use Ultra Wide Lens for taking close up photos. This feature is available on iPhone 13 and above. If you want to enhance the way you use your iPhone, try out WrapCart mobile skins . The beta also tests out the Legacy Contact feature which allows you to appoint a designated contact to access your data. Some of the other improvements are influenced by the recent remote-work trend. Increased functionality in Mail and improvements to FaceTime audio and support for FaceTime conferencing.
The iMessage Child Safety feature is a contentious addition in this beta version. It remains to be seen whether the feature is tweaked.
